We built it because plumbing is one of the few household purchases most people make under pressure, without time to research, and with no reference point for whether the number they are quoted is reasonable. A homeowner staring at a $4,200 quote at 9pm has no way to know whether that is fair. Having a range in hand changes that conversation.
Estimates are built from published 2026 national average cost data, then adjusted using state-level labor rates, permit and inspection costs, licensing requirements, and regional conditions that measurably affect price — freeze exposure, soil type, water hardness, housing age, and construction method. We update the underlying figures as new data becomes available.
They are reference ranges, not bids. No calculator can see your home, your pipe condition, your access constraints, or how far damage has already spread — and those factors move the final number substantially. Use these estimates to judge whether a quote is in a reasonable range and to ask better questions. Then get a written quote from a licensed plumber.
